Awoleye Oluwatofunmi has been detained by the Kwara State Police Command on suspicion of defrauding an American citizen named Vonapolouis Moss of $1,000 via the internet.
At the Friday press conference at the police headquarters in Ilorin, the state’s police commissioner, Paul Odama, revealed this.

He claimed that the suspect conned the victim of $1,000 while posing as an American on the social networking site TikTok under the name Howard Adams.
The suspect allegedly went one step further, enticing the victim to fly into Nigeria on January 9, 2023, via the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, according to the CP.
He claimed that the victim arrived in Ilorin the following day by plane and was met by the suspect before being apprehended on the basis of intelligence.
Prior to being saved by the police, the CP said that the suspect had also deceitfully stolen an undefined sum of money from the victim.
He went on to say that the appropriate authorities had been informed for further action.
In the interim, the state police command has transferred the victim into Secure Custody in anticipation of her return to the United States.
According to the CP, “the command would continue to carry out its responsibilities with a full sense of responsibility and be willing to respect the rights of every citizen at all times.”
