The Students’ Loan Application system is set to be launched in January 2024, without any intermediary between loan administrators and the beneficiaries, according to Femi Gbajabiamila, President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff. He disclosed this information while delivering a lecture titled “Empowering Nigerian Youths in the Present Day Economy” at the 35th convocation ceremony of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) in Lagos.
Efforts are being made to ensure that Nigerian students can avail the loan to finance their educational aspirations. Gbajabiamila emphasized that the application process will be seamless, as applicants will apply online, undergo verification online, and receive credit based on the documents and credentials they submit
Furthermore, he highlighted that nobody would need any connections to qualify for the loans, ensuring equal access to financing for all. Recently, Tinubu signed the Student Loan Bill into law, ensuring that no student would have to drop out of tertiary institutions due to an inability to pay their fees. Additionally, Tinubu pledged to provide educational institutions with the necessary resources to fulfill their responsibilities.
