Oleksandr Zinchenko, a defender for Arsenal, has said that Manchester City and Manchester United may contend with his team for the Premier League championship this year.
Zinchenko asserts that Man City has never left the title race while Man United has returned.
The Ukrainian also revealed that at the start of the season, when he informed his teammates they could win the Premier League championship, some of them laughed.
Arsenal overcame Manchester United 3-2 on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium, extending their excellent run of results.
With a game still to play, the Gunners lead Man City by five points in the Premier League.
However, Zinchenko, who won four Premier League titles during his time at Man City, told Premier League Productions: “To be honest, when I just arrived, the quality I saw, obviously I knew the Arsenal team, I knew all of them before [joining Arsenal], but still I realised on the pitch we’ve everything to achieve the big things.
“I started to speak in the dressing room like, ‘guys, forget top three or whatever, we need to think about the title’. Some of them were laughing, but now no one is laughing.”
He added, “All of us are dreaming, but still, there are a lot of games to play. Manchester United are back, City, as always, is there. Let’s see what is going to happen, we need to go step by step.”
